As mentioned earlier: Torvizcón is a village with narrow, steep streets. The house is therefore less suitable for people who are not very good walkers. You can park the car nearby, but not directly in front of the house. In the house it is forbidden to smoke. On the balcony, the terrace and the patio there is enough opportunity to smoke. Ashtray is available.

The following part about getting to Spain by plane is meant for people traveling from Holland. As we are Dutch and frequently travel to and from Holland we have suggestions for people travelling from Holland.

Flights

There are three Spanish airports on a reasonable distance from the Alpujarras:

Almería airport

Transavia provides flights from Amsterdam to Almería.

Granada airport

As RyanAir and MonarchAir fly from the UK to Granada, it is known as an international airport. Unfortunately there are no Dutch airlines flying to Granada.

Málaga airport

This is the most important airport in Andalucia.
Transavia flies from Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Amsterdam to Málaga. Rotterdam is a much smaller airport than Amsterdam, you can park (also long term) nearby at much cheaper rates than Amsterdam. You don't have to walk for miles or be present hours in advance. If we or any of our guests fly we always travel from Rotterdam.

For those who live in the south of Holland, Virgin Express and Ryan Air could be of interest. These airlines fly from Brussels and are generally cheaper than Transavia.
For people living in the east of Holland there are more possibilities. The airports of Munster, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Cologne also offer flights to Málaga. Air Berlin, TuiFly, LTU and Easyjet are airlines who fly from these airports. Please check the following wwebsite for reasonably priced flights from Holland: www.lowcostairlines.nl.

Car rent

Renting a car is rather inexpensive in Spain. There are many car rental companies at Malaga airport. It is easy to find and book one via the internet.
Please beware of the additional fuel payments. Some of the car rental companies supply the car with a full tank of fuel for which you pay a price that is out of proportion with the actual fuel prices in Spain. The rental price may appear to be cheap, but with the full tank of fuel paid for, you are still paying more than with the other companies. And you do not get any repayment for remaining fuel.
It's better to choose a car rental company where you return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you received the car, or where you receive the car with a full tank of fuel for which you pay a guarantee. You will get this guarantee back when you return the car.

Public transport

Bus

Alsa provides the bus transport in the province of Granada. However, if you want to explore the surrounding area a car is necessary. You can also take the bus to Granada from Torvizcón. It will save you a drive of 1 ½ hour and also searching for a parking spot.

Train

There are no railways in the Alpujarras. There is a train station in Granada with a good travel service to other places in Andalucia.
